Lambert Makes Cma Awards History With Nine Nods

Miranda Lambert has made history after scoring an impressive nine nominations for the 2010 CMA Awards - the most for any female country music artist.
The singer and country music trio Lady Antebellum emerged as early contenders in the first wave of nominations announced on Tuesday (31Aug10).
But the final results announced on Wednesday (01Sep10) by the Country Music Association placed Lambert atop the competition, with her two songs The House That Built Me and White Liar both up for single, video and song of the year. She also earned nods for female vocalist of the year and album of the year.
Lambert fell just short of Alan Jackson's overall record of 10 nominations, set in 2002. Merle Haggard is the only other artist to receive nine or more nominations.
Following the star is Lady Antebellum, scoring the second most nominations across four categories, including vocal group of the year. The band's breakthrough hit Need You Now also landed its members, Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott, nods for album of the year, single of the year and music video of the year.
Lambert's fiance Blake Shelton is also a favourite; he's up for male vocalist of the year and is tied with Zac Brown Band at four nods.
But the White Liar hitmaker will face stiff competition in the prestigious entertainer of the year category - Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban will also compete for the CMA's top award.
Rounding out the event's leading contenders are Paisley, who earned a total of three nods, including music video of the year and male vocalist, and Dierks Bentley, with mentions for male vocalist of the year and album of the year.
The 44th Annual CMAs will broadcast live with from country music capital Nashville, Tennessee on 10 November (10), with co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.
