Mischa Barton could lose her home after missing mortgage payments.

The former 'O.C.' actress' eight-bedroom Beverly Hills mansion - which is worth over $8 million - has been placed in foreclosure after she failed to keep up with her mortgage repayments for the last five months, leaving her $100,000 in arrears, TMZ reports.

Mischa risks losing the lavish property unless she works out an agreement or brings her payments up to date soon.

The 28-year-old actress bought the property for $6.4 million, taking out a loan of $4.2 million, in 2005 and has been trying to sell up since 2010.

The Spanish-style property was first put on the market for $8.695 million and then relisted after a brief break but after it failed to sell both times, she put it up for rent for $35,000 a month last year, though it is unclear whether she had any interest.

The mansion was then put back up for sale with the same price tag.

The 1.2 acre property boasts five bathrooms, a formal dining room, marble staircase and a stunning master bedroom with its own fireplace.

There is also a separate guest house, a pool and a spa area, and private decks within the gated grounds.
