Rocker Morrissey blasted British Prime Minister David Cameron during his performance at the Glastonbury festival on Friday night (24Jun11), accusing the politician for attempting to block an animal rights bill.
Lawmakers in the U.K. this week (beg20Jun11) passed a proposal banning the use of live animals in travelling circuses, despite a last-minute bid by Cameron to torpedo the bill.
And the former The Smiths frontman used his slot supporting headliners U2 on the first night of the weekend festival to take aim at the British leader.
He told the crowd, "I was very pleased to see today a bill was passed to stop animals being used in circuses. But, as I'm sure you know, David Cameron tried to stop the bill being passed. What a silly twit."
Last year (10), Morrissey and his former bandmate Johnny Marr clashed with Cameron after the politician revealed he was a fan of their music.
Morrissey said, "David Cameron hunts and shoots and kills stags - apparently for pleasure. It was not for such people that either (The Smiths albums) Meat Is Murder or The Queen is Dead were recorded; in fact, they were made as a reaction against such violence."
