Boyz II Men, one of the most successful boy bands of the 1990s and the most successful R&B group of all time, are celebrating their 20th anniversary in the best possible fashion - by releasing a new album. 'Twenty' hit shelves earlier this week and, in keeping with its title, features 20 songs including eight of the group's classics - such as 'End Of The Road' and their debut single 'Motownphilly' - plus 12 new tracks.
The former quartet - now three-piece - have sold over 60 million records since their formation in 1991, and are perhaps best remembered for their multi-platinum U.S. number 1 albums, 'II' and 1997's 'Evolution,' though the group can also boast another in their canon - 1991 debut 'Cooleyhighharmony' which made it to No.3. Twenty years on and the group have returned with their first album of original music in seven years, member Wanya Morris told MTV.com, "it felt like it was time to put our efforts and our maturity and all of the things we gained through the 20 years on this album. We're trying our best to transcend time, but at the same time maintain our integrity and allow people to see the maturity as well".
Boyz Ii Men have enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence this year, appearing on Beyonce's 'Countdown' and collaborating with Justin Bieber on his forthcoming Christmas album 'Under The Mistletoe'. Their drive also appears as strong as ever, with singer Nathan Morris saying "Music is who we are . It's the only thing that has really kept us here for 20 years".
