Rapper 2 Chainz denies carrying brass knuckles through a New York airport, insisting police mistook his four-finger ring for a weapon.
Kanye West's rap prodigy was detained by cops at LaGuardia Airport on Tuesday (22May12) for carrying what police described as brass knuckles in his hand luggage, and was subsequently charged with misdemeanour possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
However, the star is adamant the item was just a piece of jewellery, telling MTV News, "Someone misconstrued a piece of jewellery for a weapon...
"I do exclusive pieces. My pieces are actual conversation pieces, like, literally. When you see my gold, when you see my stuff, it's something to (talk) about. People weren't doing four-finger rings and all that. I just like to set myself apart, so I definitely wasn't trying to beat nobody up on the airplane or nothing."
The 35 year old, real name Tauheed Epps, spent nine hours behind bars before pleading guilty to a lesser and unspecified charge.
The trinket that caused all the trouble was confiscated.
