Arctic Monkeys have repeated their 2010 feat of being nominated in seven categories at the NME Awards. They will, no doubt, be hoping to take home more than one statuette, though, which was the end result two years ago. The Sheffield quartet, who formed in 2002 as teenagers, now have four studio albums to their name and last year's Suck It and See faces strong competition from The Horrors, Mercury Music Prize winner PJ Harvey, The Vaccines and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds in the Best Album category.
Alex Turner and co. are also up for the coveted Best British Band award, against last year's winners Muse as well as Bombay Bicycle Club, The Horrors and Kasabian. The rest of their nominations have been given for Best Live Band, Best Track (for 'The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala') and, Best Album Artwork and Best Video for 'Suck It And See.' One of their nominations is more of a nod to their supporters than the band themselves, as they find themselves listed in the Most Dedicated Fans section. Sadly, Alex Turner's new rockabilly haircut isn't enough to earn him a nod in the Hottest Male category, though.
Arctic Monkeys recently released an audio track of Katy B's single 'Katy on a Mission.' Miss B is in the running for the Dancefloor Anthem prize for 'The Bay' so she'll be able to tell the boys in person what she makes of their rock version of her club hit.
