Legendary singer Nat King Cole's twin daughters have launched a new foundation to boost music in U.S. schools on what would have been their father's 90th birthday.
Timolin and Casey Cole are keeping the Mona Lisa singer's legacy alive through the Nat King Cole Generation Hope charity.
They launched the foundation after learning of budget cuts in South Florida public schools. The charity has been created to provide funding for music education to children of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and diversities, including instruction in musical instruments, composition, songwriting and recording arts, as well as several other seminars and field trips.
Casey Cole tells WENN, "We believe our father, by right, has earned his place in history as a true American hero and legend through his contribution to the world of music. By enriching students with the opportunity to enhance their musical talents and abilities, our father's legacy lives on."
Cole, who died in 1965, would have turned 90 on Wednesday (17Mar10).
