Actor Robert Portal has raised more than $640,000 (£400,000) for Natascha McElhone's late husband's charity after successfully rowing across the Atlantic Ocean.
Portal, who appeared in The King's Speech and is dating Kristin Scott Thomas' sister Sam, signed up to row 3,000 miles (4,828 kilometres) from the Canary Islands to Barbados with his friend James Cash to benefit the actress' late partner Dr Martin Kelly's health organisation Facing The World.
They were left stranded after their boat was damaged on 2 January (12) but managed to complete their challenge when new oars were delivered, and Portal has spoken of his delight about raising so much cash with the challenge.
Speaking on British morning show Daybreak, he says, "A great friend of mine, Martin Kelly, was a surgeon for a charity called Facing The World. He was a great friend and I thought (when he died)... I'm going to have to do something to make people sit up and take notice and I thought what could be the worst thing I could do to raise the most amount of money and that ticked the box.
"At the moment we're over £400,000, it's still coming in on Facebook and Justgiving. People have been wonderfully kind, so that's brilliant."
