Alyson Hannigan has signed up for American Pie 4, reports OnTheRedCarpet.com. Alyson Hannigan will join the movie's original stars Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott in the cast of the new film. Hannigan will reprise her role as the flute playing geek "Michelle".
37-year-old Alyson was noticeable absent from the last four 'American Pie Presents' spin offs movies and last appeared in the 2003 film 'American Pie: The Wedding', when her character married the hapless 'Jim'. The new movie is expected to follow Michelle and Jim's married life and will feature a high school reunion. The actress rose to fame playing 'Willow' on the cult series 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' and more recently played 'Lily Aldrin' on the hit series 'How I Met Your Mother'. Also reprising their roles in the new 'American Pie' will be William Scott who plays the abrasive 'Stifler' and Eugene Levy, who plays Jim's comedic father.
The original movie, starring Alyson Hannigan, Tara Reid, Shannon Elizabeth and Natasha Lyonne, was released in 1999 to critical acclaim. Stars such as Reid and Elizabeth have yet to confirm their involvement in the forthcoming film, set to hit cinemas in January 2012.
