Singers Nelly Furtado and Natalie Cole were among the stars who helped honour Brazilian entertainer Caetano Veloso in Las Vegas on Wednesday (13Nov12).

Veloso, who has released more than 40 albums throughout his career, was feted as the Latin Recording Academy's Person of the Year during a special ceremony at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino.

Furtado and Cole were joined Juan Luis Guerra and Juanes, who performed one of the veteran's most famous tunes, Sampa.

Furtado also sang a rendition of his popular track O Leaozinh, while musician Sting recorded a special tribute video, which was played during the show.

Stepping up to accept his trophy, the 70 year old, overcome with emotion, said, "It's too much."
