SCREAM star Neve Campbell is returning to the stage, after an 11-year break from theatre.

The 30-year-old actress - whose last onstage appearance was in the Toronto, Canada production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - will perform in ALLAN KNEE's play SYNCOPATION, which will open in New York City on 24 October (04).

She says, "I just feel the urge to get back on stage now. I'm sort of disappointed in the scripts I'm reading. I would rather go do a play than sit at home moping.

"I know it will help me grow as an actor, and it will be good to work my muscles again."

In the play, Campbell will portray an introverted factory worker in turn-of-the-century New York who dreams about dancing, and subsequently takes up ballroom lessons, where she meets and falls in love with a man with similar fantasies.
