Neve Campbell is set to star in a forthcoming Amish drama for Lifetime as part of a development deal with the network for scripted and original movies. The Scream actress has been given the green-light to star and produce in 'Sworn to Silence', according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The show revolves around Kate Burkholder, played by Campbell, who survives a series of brutal murders in her once peaceful Amish farming community in Ohio. Fifteen years later, she returns to the town as its chief of police but is soon caught up in a new murder investigation that triggers memories of her childhood. Based on the book by Linda Castillo, Sworn to Silence will be co-produced by Poppy Montgomery (Unforgettable) and written by Mark Malone (Law & Order: Criminal Intent). Lifetime president Nancy Dubuc spoke enthusiastically about the project in a statement on Wednesday (December 7, 2011), saying, "I've always admired Neve's work. She is a proven talent who will bring a high level of intensity and presence to this role...Growing our scripted programming remains a top priority for Lifetime and our longform strategy provides us with a strong stable from which to identify potential series". Sworn to Silence is the latest of Lifetime's recent acquisitions - the network has also picked up The Client List, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Modern love, starring Eric Stoltz as a newspaper science editor whose marriage is falling apart.
Best known for starring in the Scream horror flicks, Neve Campbell reprised her role as Sidney Prescott for the franchise's fourth instalment earlier this year. The movie also starred Courteney Cox and DAVID ARQUETTE.
