Biography

Fall Out Boy (formed 2001) Fall Out Boy is an American rock band, who rose to fame with their single 'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race.

Formation: In Chicago, 2001, Fall Out Boy was formed by Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz. Trohman overheard Patrick Stump talking about the band Neurosis in a bookstore and invited him to join the band. Initially, Patrick auditioned as the drummer but his vocal talents were soon discovered and he took up the role of vocalist. T. J. Racine and a man known only as 'Mike' completed the line-up, on guitar and drums, respectively.

In 2002, the band recorded a demo and in May of that year, Uprising Records released their debut EP, followed by a mini LP, Fall Out Boy's Evening Out with Your Girlfriend, in 2003. Following the record's release, Andy Hurley joined the band, whilst Racine and Mike both left. It was around this time that Stump began to play the guitar for the band.

The band's name is a reference to a character in The Simpsons. The character was the sidekick to Radioactive Man.

Breakthrough: In 2003, Fall Out Boy signed a deal with the label Fueled By Ramen, who released their acoustic EP My Heart Will Always Be the B-side to My Tongue.

Later that year, they also signed a deal with Island Records, who gave the band an advance payment to record Take This To Your Grave, with Sean O'Keefe at Smart Studios, owned by Butch Vig (of the band Garbage and renowned for his production work for Nirvana). Despite some songs receiving airplay, the album was only really a commercial success after the release of their next album.

In 2005, From Under the Cork Tree was released and sold over 68,000 in its first week of sale. The first single from the album, 'Sugar, We're Goin' Down', peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The band was nominated as Best Newcomer at the 2006 MTV Awards.

In 2007, the band released Infinity on High. Their single 'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race' was the band's highest charting single on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as in the UK singles chart. The single was remixed by Kanye West and Fall Out Boy have also collaborated with Timbaland.

In April 2008, **** was released. The CD and DVD is a collection of live material recorded at Phoenix's Cricket Wireless Pavilion as well as a cover of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It', with John Mayer on guitar.

In August 2008, the band began a viral internet campaign to promote their next album, Folie à Deux, causing widespread speculation regarding the release date of the album.

Fall Out Boy Will Play New Material On Tour

Fall Out Boy will still perform songs from new album 'Mania' on tour - despite delaying the record's release until 2018.

The 'Centuries' rock band - made up of Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley - postponed their highly anticipated follow-up to 2015's 'American Beauty/American Psycho' because they weren't convinced it was the best it could be.

Bassist Pete told Billboard magazine: ''It's one of those things where we made the decision to push it back on our own. I think it would be different if it was a decision that was not in our hands, so then we'd feel like we had to make certain changes.

Directed by Justus Meyer, the video sees two people dressed as llamas parking their car in the dark wilderness before igniting a jacket; clearly the evidence of some misdeed. They open up the trunk and bound and gagged inside is bassist Pete Wentz, who the llamas proceed to murder with a spade. Credited as 'Llama Wrangling Specialists' are Jaden Smith and Blackbear, who will also be supporting the band on their forthcoming North American tour this October.

Rockers Fall Out Boy have scored their third US Number 1 album, the latest Billboard 200 chart reveals. The group’s sixth studio album American Beauty / American Psycho shifted 218,000 units across all formats during the week ending January 25th, according to figures given by Nielsen SoundScan.

The new record knocked Meghan Trainor’s debut Title, which sold 86,000, down to Number 3, and fended off non-mover Taylor Swift at Number 2 with 119,000 units. It marks the first time since 2010 that a January sales month, typically a quiet time for major releases, has seen two albums debut at the top with sales of over 150,000.

Until recently, the pair have kept the pregnancy a closely guarded secret. Drunk On Power: When Security Fights Back

Fall Out Boy Rolling Stones Pete Wentz Kurt Cobain Nirvana Action Bronson DMX

Crowd surfing and moshing are two activities that are part and parcel of punk shows worldwide, but it seems one security guard at the Montreal leg of this year’s Warped Tour didn’t get the memo. Footage has emerged of a security guard throwing a crowd member to the ground after apparently crowd surfing over the barrier. The incident took place during the song “Daughter” by the increasingly popular US pop-punk band The Story So Far, sparking a brief brawl in which the band’s frontman Parker Cannon leapt off the stage and exchanged a flurry of blows with the over-zealous security guard before being subdued by security staff.

After the situation was diffused, Parker returned to the stage to conclude the band’s set. Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman has launched an investigation into the incident and announced via Twitter that a tape of the melee has been sent to the security company involved for their consideration. But this is far from the first time security members have abused their powers on innocent concert-goers and such incidents continue to occur, even as professional security companies receive training for roles that were once held by trigger-happy amateur brutes and Hells Angel members. Here is a few of the most high-profile examples of security dishing out hugely irrational responses and eschewing their primary role- to keep people safe.

A Look At Fall Out Boy And Paramore's "Monumentour"

Fall Out Boy Paramore

When looking back on the history of Fall Out Boy and Paramore, it’s a little hard to believe that the two acts have never toured together. Both bands were labelmates on the record label Fueled By Ramen, and they also stormed the Top 40 and Billboard charts with their respective singles and albums over the years. Now, with both bands arguably at the highest points of their careers both musically and commercially, it only makes sense that they join forces and play some shows. Dubbed the ‘Monumentour,’ Fall Out Boy and Paramore will be taking out newcomers New Politics on 43 dates across the United States, with the tour having kicked off on June 19 in Hartford, Connecticut and ending on August 31 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Fall Out Boy LiveFall Out Boy and Paramore's tour started this week in Connecticut

“This tour will be different for us as a band because it is our legitimate first co-headline in a long time, if ever. You get limited by that and the bar is raised by that,” Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz said of the tour. It’s a different atmosphere for sure, because Fall Out Boy is no longer the clear powerhouse playing every night. Their last outing, the “Save Rock and Roll” tour, featured supporting acts such as Panic! At The Disco and Twenty One Pilots. However, for “Monumentour,” Paramore will be trying to prove exactly why they’re at number one on the Adult Pop song charts with their current hit, “Ain’t It Fun.” It isn’t a competition, of course, but one band has to outperform the other, right? With two shows as of this writing already in the books, whose been the clear standout so far?

Download Festival 2014 Review

Download Festival 2014 was a tamer affair than in previous years, largely owing to the event's tightened alcohol and drugs searches, bands being instructed not to encourage the crowds to mosh, more mainstream main stage headliners, fewer boobs being shown on the live camera feed, and the sombre tone of the renamed 'Stephen Sutton Stage'. Instead of holding a silence for the cancer-struck teen, festival attendees took part in a minute of respectful applause, which was paralleled by comedy pop punk band Bowling For Soup's tribute to the late comic, Rik Mayall.

Download Festival 2014 Review

In memoriam sections aside, the festival managed to transform what could be perceived as a weaker line-up compared to its preceding year into a three-day celebration of a broad range of the rock spectrum, filled with bespoke performance gems and quality heavy metal memories. First night closers Avenged Sevenfold brought a larger stage to Donington than they'd ever taken out of the US and combined imposing crypt-inspired adornments with an explosive set that proved on a world stage that they are worthy successors to titans Metallica and Iron Maiden.

The beady-eyed punter will have had a ball spotting the odd and hilarious happenings across the weekend, including a "face-melting" washboard solo from Berlin faux cowboys The BossHoss, punk's immature popsters Bowling For Soup asking a knight to decapitate a giant inflatable sheep, full contact medieval fighting from Battle Heritage, and Killswitch Engage's Jesse Leach inviting the crowd to "dance responsibly" to a particularly heavy breakdown. Ribs were probably broken in the latter instance.

Isle of Wight Festival 2014 Review

If there's something to take away from this year's Isle of Wight Festival, it's probably sunburn. Unlike the mud bath of two years ago, 2014 will be remembered for serving up one of the hottest weekends I can remember for a festival, along with some crowd-pleasing performances. While not every act managed to capture their moment in the sun, all the major names delivered in spades.

Isle of Wight Festival 2014 Review

But it wasn't just the music that made the weekend for many; a real sense of celebration seemed to erupt across the site. Partly fuelled by anticipation over the World Cup and partly because of the good weather, thousands of smiling faces could be seen everywhere. Sunflowers seemed to be an essential festival accessory and many opted for as few clothes as possible with t-shirts looking like they'd gone out of fashion altogether. I've even had to make a note in my diary that it's international flip-flop day on June 20th, just one of the many things I learnt around Seaclose Park this year.

The highlight of Friday afternoon should have really been local boy Tom Odell on the main stage. But his piano led ballads took some time to win the crowd over despite his number 1 album 'Long Way Down'. By the time he'd finished though, the reaction showed that he'd justified his place on the main stage billing.
