Alec Baldwin is having a drastic makeover - in order to play gay fashion designer ROY FROWICK HALSTON in a new biopic.

The movie star is the unlikely first choice to play the 1960s and 1970s fashion icon, who died from an AIDS related illness in 1990, in new film SIMPLY HALSTON.

The role requires Baldwin to lose weight, and he may also take part in a gay kissing scene.

Baldwin is very excited about the film, saying, "I love this movie. It deals with how the world of fashion changed in the 1980s, and how AIDS comes along and politicises homosexuality.

"It's a chance to really transform myself. I'd have to see a nutritionist and lose 25 pounds and really become this guy. I could have a full-blown love scene with my boyfriend.

"I'm like, 'Hmm, can I get naked and get it on with a guy?' I wonder about that."
