The surviving members of Alice In Chains are hitting the road this summer for the first time since former frontman Layne Staley's death from a drug overdose in 2002.

The band will reunite for the Nova Rock Festival in Austria on 28 June (06), along with Metallica, GUNS N' ROSES, TOOL, Queens Of The Stone Age and Massive Attack.

All the members of the Alice In Chains last toured together in 1996.

Guitarist Jerry Cantrell, bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney have only reunited on stage once since Staley's death, at a February 2005 tsunami benefit show in Seattle, Washington.

The trio will also perform on US TV network VH1's Decades Rock, in New Jersey 10 March (06), as part of an episode devoted to the band Heart.

For that appearance, Staley will be replaced by COMES WITH THE FALL singer WILLIAM DuVALL, who also doubles as a member of Cantrell's touring band.

Duvall is under consideration to sing on the summer tour, but no final decision has been made.
