Carlisle Prefers France's Attitude To Older Women
American singer BELINDA CARLISLE loves living in France because they celebrate older women and young men still try to "pick" her up.
The HEAVEN IS A PLACE ON EARTH, 45, who lives with her golfer husband MORGAN MASON and their 11-year-old son JAMES, is amazed at how much more respected women are than in America - where an ageist attitude still prevails in the entertainment industry.
Carlisle says, "In the States you're invisible if you're over 35 and I think that's disgusting. I was dropped by my record label as soon as I hit 40.
"But in France I've noticed it doesn't matter. The French really celebrate what it is to be a woman. I still get young boys trying to pick me up."30/07/2004 14:25
