Scottish punk rocker Edwyn Collins has vowed to continue making music after suffering a brain haemorrhage in February this year (05).

The Orange Juice frontman is now partially paralysed and suffers speech difficulties, but modestly refuses to accept praise for the incredible progress he has made over the past nine months.

He says, "I need to get better. I will get better."

His partner Grace Maxwell added, "He has many hurdles to overcome. Some are physical, although his mobility is now astoundingly good.

"Edwyn has expressive dysphasia, and this is his major frustration. He struggles to find the words he wants to say, and initially couldn't speak or read at all.

"Language was and is vital to Edwyn. He makes constant progress with very hard work. He is very determined.

"But he's Scottish and will not accept praise. Not at all!"

Recovering from a brain haemorrhage is a slow process Having survived a ruptured aneurysm is a very difficult experience to have gone through and can be extremely unsettling. Gathering information about your condition can help ease this fear, help begin the healing process, and help bring a sense of comfort and support during a trying time. Pope Benedict XVI suffered a brain haemorrhage in 1991 but has since recovered from it. Just shows what you can achieve. You will get there Edwyn
