Film-maker Cameron Crowe is disappointed he won't get the chance to team up with Tom Cruise to make a Phil Spector biopic, because the story would have been boosted by the music mogul's upcoming murder trial.

Crowe and his JERRY MAGUIRE star Cruise were first rumoured to be working on an untitled biopic of the Wall Of Sound producer in 1997. Spector is currently free on $1 million (GBP555,500) bail as he awaits trial for allegedly murdering actress Lana Clarkson in his California mansion.

And while Crowe admits Spector's life has grown even more interesting since Clarkson's 2003 murder, he is unsure when or if the story of the music producer's life will ever hit the big screen.

Crowe says, "I don't think that's going to happen now. It's a shame because we'd have an interesting ending. And a great wig."
