Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning's new horror movie HIDE + SEEK scared up $22 million (GBP11.6 million) at the US box office in its first weekend (28-30JAN05) on release to claim the top spot on the new chart.

The scary film, which sees De Niro and Fanning playing father and daughter topple last week's (21-23JAN05) number one movie, Ice Cube's ARE WE THERE YET?

Meanwhile, the pre-OSCAR buzz about Clint Eastwood's acclaimed boxing drama Million Dollar Baby has given that film a boost - it rises to number three on the new chart from number 12 with an impressive $11.8 million (GBP6.21 million) take.

Sleeper hit Sideways also benefited from the Oscar buzz - a healthy $6.3 million (GBP3.3 million) take propels the wine drinking comedy back into the top 10 and gives it a total gross of $40 million (GBP21 million).
