A teenage boy has died at Britain's READING FESTIVAL - but the cause of his death remains unknown.

Local police in Berkshire, England, are investigating the death in the early hours of yesterday morning (25AUG03). Officers were called at 5.15am following reports that a man in the campsite had stopped breathing.

Paramedics at the event - which featured acts like Metallica and BLUR - worked on the 18-year-old at the scene for almost an hour, before rushing him to the ROYAL BERKSHIRE HOSPITAL. But he was pronounced dead just minutes later.

Police have ruled out the possibility of foul play.

Inspector JOHN RELPH, who has been overseeing the running of the festival, says, "The tragic events of this morning's sudden death have dampened things and our sympathies and thoughts are with the family of the boy who died."
