Democrat actress Edie Falco is dreading any political storylines in forthcoming episodes of mob drama THE SOPRANOS - because her character CARMELA is a Republican.

Falco is so anti-GEORGE W BUSH she is appearing in TV advertisements for political group MOTHERS OPPOSING BUSH (MOB), which will hit American TV screens tonight (03SEP04).

Falco explains, "I don't want to go into Carmela's politics. I've got to get along with her for another year and a half, so I'm afraid to go there.

"MOB contacted me a number of times to get involved and I said, 'But I'm not a mom,' and they said that was OK. But I think I can understand what it's like to be a mom in times like this and to try to raise a family with all the uncertainty in the world."

Falco is keeping her fingers cross Democrat Presidential candidate JOHN KERRY is sworn into the White House following November's (04) elections.

She enthuses, "His heart is in the right place. I love the fact that he went to Vietnam because he supported the mission but then left that country with a different idea.

"I like that he's not rigid, that he's open to changing his mind. Because one thing you can count on in life is that everything's going to change.''
