Don Johnson Accuses Germany Of Hurting His Reputation

American actor Don Johnson's lawyer is poised to file a damages claim against the GERMAN FINANCE MINISTRY for hurting the actor's reputation.

The former MIAMI VICE star, 53, was stopped for a routine check as he entered Germany from Switzerland last November (02) with two other men. Officials found and photocopied documents listing transactions totalling $8 billion (GBP5 billion) but didn't seize them. They allowed Johnson to continue his trip without formally questioning him.

But the actor claims his reputation was damaged because his name was allegedly made public by officials at the ministry, which oversees customs authorities.

Johnson, who has strongly denied any wrongdoing, insists the statements weren't his, but were from potential investors for a movie project.

In May (03), German customs investigators said they had determined that the documents belonged to another person who had remained in Switzerland, and said no offense had been committed. German authorities never launched a formal investigation and consider the matter closed, they said.
