Eavis Snubs U2
Irish rockers U2 have been snubbed by Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis for a future appearance at the legendary music event, because he would rather champion new acts.
Eavis has tried and failed to add the Vertigo hitmakers to the festival bill on so many occasions he's now given up hope of them ever headlining.
In the face of annual rejection, Eavis has turned his attention to up and coming acts instead.
He says, "I'm not doing the U2 thing again. They've got to phone me now, I can tell you that. A lot of these new bands are creeping up fast.
He explains, "The best bands of this year have been Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, Bloc Party and there are so many of them out there who are racing up the scale. One of those are going to be headlining eventually. There's plenty of new stuff to choose from. If U2 give me a ring I'd be delighted - but I'm not going to ring them anymore."27/06/2005 05:30
