Country beauty Faith Hill has soared to the top of America's album charts, with her new album FIREFLIES selling 329,000 copies in its opening week.

Hill's most recent studio albums - 2002's CRY and 1999's BREATHE - debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with sales of 472,000 and 242,000 units respectively.

Last week's (ends04AUG05) number one, the 19th volume in the NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC compilation series, falls to second place, followed by Mariah Carey's The Emancipation Of Mimi.

Young Jeezy's LET'S GET IT: THUG MOTIVATION 101 falls from second to fourth place, followed by R+B newcomer Teairra Mari,with ROC-A-FELLA PRESENTS TEAIRRA MARI.

British singer Natasha Bedingfield opened at a strong 26th place with the US release of her album UNWRITTEN, whose first-week sales of 34,000 were propelled by her hit single THESE WORDS.
