A movie about the Falklands War between Argentina and the UK has scooped the top prize at Robert De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival. ILLUMINADOS POR EL FUEGO (ENLIGHTENED BY FIRE) follows the tale of an Argentine war veteran who is forced to relive the 1982 conflict 20 years on. It won the Best Narrative Feature award at the New York festival, set up by De Niro in 2002 to help Manhattan after September 11th (01). Almost 650 Argentine soldiers and 255 British soldiers lost their lives in the 10-week battle over the sovereignty of the South Atlantic islands, called Islas Malvinas by the Argentines. Elsewhere at the festival War Tapes, which includes footage filmed by soldiers of the US National Guard in Iraq, won the Best Documentary award. De Niro said of this year's (06) event, "We're very pleased with the growth of the festival."
