Fiddler Terry Dies At 74
Country fiddle legend GORDON TERRY lost his battle with diabetes and emphysema on Sunday (09APR06). The 74-year-old won the Alabama Fiddling Championship when he was just 14 and later became a member of BILL MONROE'S BLUE GRASS BOYS and worked with FARON YOUNG after befriending him when they served together in World War Two. He scored a hit in 1970 with the JOHNNY CASH tribute THE BALLAD OF JC, but will best be remembered as a top session musician, who recorded with Cash, MERLE HAGGARD and NEIL YOUNG, among others. Terry also acted in several films and appeared in 1950s TV series SKY RING. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (12APR06) in Trinity, Alabama.
