Rockers the Foo Fighters replaced Nine Inch Nails at the MTV_movie_awards">Mtv Movie Awards last weekend (04JUN05) but insist they sympathise with NIN leader Trent Reznor over his decision to pull out of the event.

Reznor pulled the plug on his performance over a disagreement with MTV bosses over the group's insistence of using a controversial image of PRESIDENT George W Bush as a stage backdrop.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl jumped at the chance to perform at the MTV Movie Awards at the last minute, but insists he understands why pal Reznor felt the need to pull out.

He says, "I respect Trent a lot, musically and otherwise. I kind of feel like we're doing the same thing, but without the banner."
