FRIENDS actor JAMES MICHAEL TYLER believes he won his role of CENTRAL PERK worker GUNTHER in the hit American comedy because of his coffee-making skills.

The actor - who played the coffee shop waiter for the ten years the show was on air - claims he won the part on the now defunct comedy due to his previous experience of working in a cafe.

Tyler explains, "I worked in a cafe and got the role as I was the only who could use the cappuccino machine."
