Geldof Denies Live Aid II Involvement
UK newspapers yesterday (08MAY05) claimed music legends Sir Paul McCartney and THE Rolling Stones had agreed to perform at the 2 July event in London's Hyde Park, and a spokeswoman for Geldof confirmed the Live Aid TRUST had been working on a live extravaganza.
The so-called LIVE 8 free concert was reportedly intended to encourage American President George W Bush to end poverty in Africa when he meets the world's most powerful leaders in Scotland on 6 July (05).
However, Geldof has rubbished reports of his involvement, insisting he'll never take on a challenge like 1985's LIVE AID again.
He says, "It is kite flying, that's all it is. It is just talk. Why would I possibly repeat something I did 20 years ago?"09/05/2005 02:21
