Gervais Hits The Big Time

THE OFFICE creator RICKY GERVAIS is taking advantage of his newfound celebrity status in Hollywood - he's trying to recruit SAMUEL L JACKSON for his upcoming comedy series EXTRAS.

After unexpectedly winning two GOLDEN GLOBES earlier this year (JAN04), the comedian can draw on a much wider spectrum of stars in his latest series about struggling actors - and quips the PULP FICTION favourite would be "a fool" if he snubs his offer.

He says, "We desperately want Samuel L Jackson for the pilot episode, so if you can put the word out, get Sam to call me.

"Tell him Ricky Gervais wants him. The weather here is bad, we're really badly paid and I make things up as I go along - if he doesn't jump at that, then he's a fool."
