The Office creator Ricky Gervais has taken out a full page advertisment in showbiz magazine VARIETY - to apologise to his co-stars for not thanking them when he collected two Golden GlobeS on Sunday (25JAN04).

The British funnyman was so excited when he took to the stage at the Hollywood ceremony to pick up the awards for Best Comedy TV Series and Best TV Comedy Actor that he forgot to mention his colleagues.

So Ricky and The Office's co-writer Stephen Merchant have placed a full-page advert in the American publication, which features all the cast under a banner which reads, "Congratulations to the cast and crew of The Office on winning two Golden Globes awards!"

Ricky explains, "I would have made a better effort if I'd thought I was going to win. I'm sorry I did not have something better to say."
