Gillespie's Behaviour Angers Glastonbury Officials

Primal Scream rocker BOBBY GILLESPIE shocked organisers of the Glastonbury Festival in southwest England yesterday (26JUL05), when he refused to leave the stage.

The KILL ALL HIPPIES star appeared to be intoxicated as he took to the event's Pyramid Stage and was less than impressed when officials asked him to get off the stage when he announced the band were going to cover John Lennon's GIMME SOME TRUTH.

When he refused to leave, organisers cut off the microphones, to which Gillespie responded by throwing mic stands into the audience.

During Primal Scream's performance, Gillespie had brought several songs to a premature end and at one point continuously repeated "the war on terror is a pretext for a police state".

As his bandmates looked on, the singer admitted, "We had a long session this afternoon."

He then went on to chastise any members of the rock festival crowd who might have bought tickets hoping to see pop superstar Kylie Minogue, who had been due to perform before cancelling her appearance last month (MAY05) after being diagnosed with cancer.

Gillespie said, "Did anyone come to see Kylie? F**k you."
