Glitter's Lawyer: 'I Have Strategies'
LATEST: Disgraced British rocker Gary Glitter's lawyer is confident his client's sentence for child molestation will be reduced at an appeal later today (15JUN06). The 62-year-old singer, real name Paul Francis Gadd, was found guilty of molesting two girls aged 11 and 12 in a Vung Tau, Vietnam, court in March (06) and sentenced to three years behind bars. But his lawyer Le Thanh Kinh promises he has plenty of material prepared ahead of today's hearing in Ho Chi Minh City to ensure his client not only has his jail term reduced, but is also sent back to his native Britain. He says, "He (Glitter) has always maintained he is not guilty and will say the same. "Of course we expect that Glitter's sentence will be reduced... so that he can be expelled from Vietnam. "I have strategies for this trial." Le Thanh Kinh is expected to maintain the evidence against his client was "unreliable" and "unreasonable" because one of the young Vietnamese witnesses in the March (06) trial - an 11-year-old identified only as NG - had "never complained" of her treatment before the scandal surfaced in the press.
