Green Day Banned From The Marriott

A New York City hotel has banned a giant Green Day poster from the outside of its building - because of the violent, political message it conveys.

The INDEPENDENT FILM CHANNEL (IFC) had booked an exterior wall of the Marriott Marquis hotel to advertise its year-long association with the Grammy winning punk band on a massive billboard.

However, when Marriott bosses saw the poster, which depicts a heart-shaped grenade gripped by a bloodied hand, they reportedly back-tracked and refused the IFC permission to use their building.

A Marriott spokeswoman tells the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, "We have the right to review all advertising that goes on our buildings, and if we feel it has any political, pornographic or inappropriate content, we have the right to reject that ad."

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong is dumbfounded by the Marriott's refusal to let his band's poster hang on its Times Square hotel.

He says, "I thought it was an April Fool's prank."
