American punk outfit Green Day will bring their hugely successful album AMERICAN IDIOT to the big screen.

The Holiday trio have been approached by several Hollywood producers keen to make a big-budget movie-adaptation of the best-selling album.

And while the rockers are keen to start filming AMERICAN IDIOT: THE MOTION PICTURE next year (06), they first want to secure complete control over the project.

Frontman BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG says, "There's a lot of strange people out there in Hollywood, so we have to stick to our guns.

"We want to have control over everything that's on the album.

"If we're going to look at a film, we have to think of it the same way as how important the record is to us."
