LATEST: British actress Celia Imrie has leaped to acting pal DAME HELEN MIRREN's defence after Ellen Barkin criticised her decision to appear naked on screen.

Barking, 50, said Mirren's disrobing in a number of films was "unseemly" of a woman of 59.

But Imrie, who co-starred and stripped with Mirren in Calendar Girls, can't understand the problem.

She says, "What is it about some women that makes them attack other women? It's just so silly. I simply can't understand why anyone would get worked up about that sort of thing."
