A week after Ja Rule pleaded guilty to punching a Canadian man at a bar, the man is suing the rapper for $4 million (GBP2 million) in a civil lawsuit.

On 14 March (05), the LIVIN' IT UP rapper was fined $1,200 (GBP640), after pleading guilty to assault.

The hip-hop star, real name JEFFREY ATKINS, got into a fight with a reveller in Toronto's La Rouge nightspot in June 2003, recently accepting that he had delivered "one punch to the eye".

The civil lawsuit was filed on Tuesday (15MAR05) in Ontario Superior Court.
