Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake are being sued by an American woman who claims their raunchy duet at Sunday's (1FEB04) Super Bowl caused her "outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury."

The pop superstars, and TV big-hitters MTV, CBS and VIACOM, are named as defendants in TERRI CARLIN's lawsuit - and the Tennessee-native is determined to make the duo pay for their risque performance.

Although no specific figure for damages is given in Carlin's lawsuit, she has stated that punitive damages should not exceed the combined gross revenues of all defendants over the last three years. And since ever single defendant is a multi-millionaire, a final payout could be huge.

Jackson incurred the wrath of millions of American viewers after her bejewelled right breast was exposed during the duet. According to Carlin her suit is "on behalf of all Americans who watched the Super Bowl".

She continues, "Families have an expectation that they can trust companies and individuals such as the defendants not to expose families to sexually explicit conduct during broadcasts of prime time events such as the Super Bowl"

Carlin suggests that the networks screening the half-time festivities should have had a "sufficient broadcast delay" in order to prevent this situation occurring.

None of the defendants have responded to the suit as yet.
