Jenkins And Galway Win Classical Brits
Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins and Northern Irish flautist SIR JAMES GALWAY picked up top honours at the CLASSICAL BRIT AWARDS in London last night (25MAY05).
The stunning singer, 24, was nominated twice in the Album Of The Year category, for her debut disc PREMIERE and follow-up SECOND NATURE, with the latter picking up the coveted gong.
Galway was honoured with an Outstanding Contribution To Music trophy, at the star-studded ceremony in the British capital's Royal Albert Hall.
Other winners on the night include Welsh tenor Bryn Terfel for Male Artist Of The Year, American conductor MARIN ALSO for Female Artist Of The Year and John Williams for Soundtrack Composer Of The Year for his work on Harry Potter AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN and The Terminal movies.
NATALIE CLEIN was named young British Classical Composer Of The Year, while HARRY CHRISTOPHER AND THE SIXTEENS picked up the Ensemble/Orchestral Album Of The Year accolade.26/05/2005 03:29
