Jolie's Self-Mutilating Adolescence

Movie babe Angelina Jolie once used a knife during sexual intercourse so she and her then partner could slash each other's bodies - because it felt "primitive".

The Tomb Raider beauty told American TV interviewer Barbara Walters her early ambition was to work in the funeral business, and that her youthful fascination with knives and self-mutilation was once acted out in the bedroom.

She says, "I got knives out and had a night where we attacked each other. It felt so primitive and it felt so honest and then I had to deal with, you know, not telling my mother, hiding things, wearing gauze bandages to high school."

But Jolie insists she no longer engages in such behaviour, adding, "I think when you make a decision to have a child, you cannot think about suicide again and you can't be self-destructive."

Jolie's marriage to actor BILLY BOB THORNTON - which collapsed last year (02) - attracted much press attention because of the pair's unconventional expressions of devotion. They both sported tattoos of each other's names and wore pendants containing each other's blood.
