A rough copy of Kasabian's un-released new album was almost stolen by a thief after the NME awards on Thursday night (23FEB06).

The culprit was caught trying to break into guitarist Serge Pizzorno's hotel room at 2am after the band were heard chatting in the bar about the disc.

A source says, "Several fellow hotel guests were going to their rooms when they saw a man with a shaved head wearing gloves trying to shoulder the door open.

"When he realised he'd been spotted, he took off down the emergency escape stairs."
