Knightley Donates Oscar Outfit To Charity
British actress Keira Knightley has put her 2006 Oscars dress up for sale on auction website eBay and plans to donate the proceeds to the charity Oxfam. The PRIDE + PREJUDICE star's claret-coloured taffeta gown, which she wore to the 2006 Academy Awards ceremony as a Best Actress nominee, is currently on display in a West London branch of Oxfam. The charity is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the East African food crisis appeal when bidding commences on 21 April (06). Knightley says, "This is such an amazing dress and I am really pleased to be able to donate it to Oxfam. "I have seen the TV reports on the horrendous drought in East Africa and I know how desperate things have become, so I am happy to be able to do something to help." PAUL SMITH-LOMAS, Oxfam's director for East Africa, says, "We hope the public will get behind this auction so that it is a great success."
