Star Trek: THE NEXT GENERATION star LeVAR BURTON has begged TV bosses never to make another new Star Trek show and allow the sci-fi series to rest in piece.

The actor - who played LIEUTENANT COMMANDER GEORDI LA FORGE on both the big and small screens from 1987 until his final appearance in 2002 movie STAR TREK: NEMESIS - hopes the last series of STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, from 2001, will be the very last.

And Burton is threatening to get nasty if executives ignore his pleas.

He says, "Star Trek coming to an end is long overdue.

"They ran it into the ground and made so much Star Trek that it ceased to be special. If they bring this back before a decade is out I will get a high-powered weapon and start picking off studio executives."

I don't say "Never make Star Trek ever", but I do think that it is time for it to rest. Give it say, five years, let the creative juices return. After all, with all the reality TV that's on, people will want to see a drama. There may well be at least one last trip to the well, then I will say goodbye, but not just yet.

After all that has happened in Star Trek: Parallel universes, Time distortions, strange anomalies, storytelling at different points in space and time. How can anyone say that there are no more stories to be told? In the vastness of space, the possibilities are simply endless! I believe that some people has become tired of star trek because of the first seasons of Eterprise, which was so new and different from everything else, that they could not immediately identify themselves with the new series. In the end the series was taken of air. But I have to say that the last seasons were pretty good! It was just starting to get really good when they canceled it.Another factor is the TIME in wich the series aired. Compeating with reality shows aimed at single wimmen... No wonder the series had low ratings! Everyone knows that if you tell your womman to switch to star trek during "desperate housewhifes" for example, you will be required to sleep on the sofa for a very long time. And no matter how good the star trek series is, it's not worth that. So the Time it airs, the channel, and the shows it's competing with is very important. With enterprise, it could not have been any worse... I’ve been a star trek fan for many years. Everyone I have introduced the series to has liked it. Actually, some of them are even bigger fans than I am by now!I think that if Enterprise had been allowed to continue, it would have proven to be a really good series! And don’t come with that crap that every story has been told, and that there are no new things to do, because that’s just pure old-fashioned ignorance. In Star trek; a series which plays out in the vastness of the universe itself, there will always be a story to tell.I certainly don’t think that we should put star trek to death just yet. Give it a few years, and then come up with something new and original, within the star trek universe.
