Former Libertines frontman Carl Barat has joined legendary rockers BRYAN FERRY and Mick Jones in supporting British charity SHELTER's Million Children Campaign.

The CAN'T STAND ME NOW singer is the latest in a succession of music stars who've had their photograph taken in a red chair which is touring the UK as part of Shelter's Raising The Roof concerts.

The aim of the campaign is to draw attention to the impact bad housing conditions have on the health, education and future prospects of a million kids in Britain.

And Barat was pleased to lend himself to the cause alongside stars including Roxy Music frontman Ferry, The Clash guitarist Jones and up-and-coming rockers Kasabian.

He says, "Problems like this are constantly highlighted and seldom is ever done about it.

"So to have this opportunity that someone thinks that I might be able to have any kind of influence over this situation at all is something that's important to me and it's an opportunity I don't want to miss."

All photographs of celebrities in the red chair will be presented in a photography exhibition later this year (05). The Raise The Roof gigs begin next month (APR05).
