Lloyd Webber Revives Evita
Celebrated composer SIR Andrew Lloyd Webber will stage a new production of his hit musical Evita in London's West End in June (06).
The lead part of EVA PERON, wife of Argentine leader JUAN PERON, will be played by Argentine singer and actress ELENA ROGERS.
Lord Lloyd-Webber, who co-wrote the show with Tim Rice, feels the time is right to update the hit musical because "there is so much more music available to us now".
He adds, "One of the reasons I felt I wanted to be involved in the production was to relook at the orchestration."
Lord Lloyd-Webber, who also worked with Rice on Jesus Christ Superstar and JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT, describes Evita as "the pinnacle of our collaboration".
Evita first hit the stage 28 years ago (78) with British theatre star Elaine Paige filling the lead role.
Pop superstar MADONNA starred in the 1996 film adaptation.
