Former Brat Packer Rob Lowe is gearing up to take over pal Tom Cruise's role in the stage play of A FEW GOOD MEN, but has promised audiences a completely fresh portrayal of rookie Navy lawyer DANIEL KAFFEE.

The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin originally wrote the story for Broadway in 1989, before it was picked up by Hollywood producers and adapted into the 1992 hit movie, which starred Cruise, Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore.

From next month (18AUG05), Lowe will take to the London West End stage alongside DOCTOR WHO star John Barrowman, former soap actress Suranne Jones and BAD GIRLS actor JACK ELLIS.

Lowe, who starred alongside Cruise in The Outsiders, says, "Tom Cruise is a pal of mine and he was amazing in the movie. But I'm going to be doing my own take on Kaffee.

"Actually the play was written very funny and when I saw the movie, I thought, 'The movie is great... but it's not funny. It's serious.' So I'm going to show the funny side."
