May Angered By American Idol Edit

LATEST: Queen rocker Brian May is furious with the producers of American Idol after they misrepresented comments he made on the show that led to popular contestant Ace Young getting kicked off. The guitarist was seen and heard criticising Young for his plans to rearrange WE WILL ROCK YOU for his performance on a Queen tribute show. But May assures Young's fans that he made the comments that aired right at the start of rehearsals with the singer and he feels Young would have been better served if the shows editors had chosen a cut from the end of his time with the wannabe - because the guitarist was a big fan. Angry May says, "It was edited in such a way that it looked as if I was purely negative." The guitarist claims the programme made him look "as if I was against the whole thing." "We then discussed how we could improve his ideas and came up with a kind of mixture of his thoughts and ours. "It was actually pretty damn good for a quick attempt and he sang it very well live." May's comments have come too late for Young - he was voted off the TV talent show last week (ends21APR06).
