McCready Sues Former Lover For Loss Of Earnings
Country singer Mindy McCready has sued her former boyfriend for $3 million (GBP1.6 million) in damages after he launched a violent attack on her last year (MAY05). The troubled star has a tumultuous history with aspiring singer Billy Mcknight and attempted suicide after learning she was pregnant with his baby last July (05). He was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly broke into the 30-year-old singer's home and beat her severely. MCCready sued last month (MAY06) at Davidson County Circuit Court, Tennessee, claiming the violent attack had caused loss of earnings and emotional trauma. However, MCKnight's attorney JOHN NORRIS questions the high sum, saying, "Based on the circumstances of this relationship, it's hard to understand where she came up with that figure." MCCready's legal battle was the latest in a long line of court appearances. In 2004 she pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs and she is also awaiting charges for drunk driving offences.
