Scottish star Ewan McGregor agreed to appear in the Star Wars prequels - even though his Star Wars actor uncle warned him off the project.

Denis Lawson played rebel fighter pilot WEDGE ANTILLES in the original Star Wars movies, but when he learnt his nephew had been approached to play OBI-WAN KENOBI in the three prequel movies he advised him to turn down the role.

McGregor, who has been critical of the technically intensive filming processes of the sci-fi series, says, "He hates Star Wars. He hates being in it. He hates the fan mail he still receives to this day.

"And he only did a couple of days on each film. It hasn't done me any harm, I don't think."
