Molly Hatchett Star Dies
Rock band MOLLY HATCHETT's lead singer DANNY JOE BROWN has died of complications from diabetes. He was 53.
Surrounded by his wife and children, Brown - who quit the cult Florida outfit in the early 80s because of his condition - died at his home in Davie, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale, on Thursday (10MAR05).
His sister LYNDIA BROWN says, "He had been in the hospital for about four weeks before he died, and he wanted to come home and he was home for 30 minutes when he died.
"He was surrounded by his children and his wife."
Brown joined Molly Hatchett - named after a prostitute who allegedly beheaded and mutilated her clients - in 1975, and enjoyed platinum album success with their eponymous 1978 LP.
Molly Hatchet reunited and toured in 1996 to promote their album DEVIL'S CANYON, but Brown was subsequently forced to quit the music industry for good when he suffered a stroke in 1998.15/03/2005 17:22
